My complaint the Better Business Bureau displayed and subsequently hid

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about Achieve Renewable Energy LLC’s lousy performance in their installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system in my home. And the Better Business Bureau did list my complaint under their profile of Achieve Renewable Energy LLC. But a few years later, as shown in the below screenshot for the Better Business Bureau’s website, that complaint is gone, the Better Business Bureau claims they have no complaints against Achieve Renewable Energy LLC, and their rating of Achieve Renewable Energy LLC is A+.

Better Business Bureau's website indicating that they have no complaints against Achieve Renewable Energy LLC

Back when I filed the complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Achieve Renewable Energy LLC put a slew of false accusations against me in the response that they filed. The Better Business Bureau then gave me the opportunity to file a response to that, which I did. In my below response, I pointed out that:

  1. Achieve Renewable Energy claimed in its response that I had indicated in our March 2018 meeting that I had “extensive weatherization and air sealing completed by MassSave.” That claim was absolutely false and disproven by records and email messages.
  2. Achieve Renewable Energy also claimed that I indicated I “was going to undertake sealing of [my house’s] ducting via an aeroseal contractor” and that they relied on those alleged representations to prepare its proposal for this project. That allegation is also absolutely false. I could not have made such a representation, as I did not even know what aeroseal duct sealing was before Achieve Renewable Energy prepared its proposal.
  3. Achieve Renewable Energy LLC claimed that I had not indicated that my home is not adequately heated. That is false. I informed them in writing many months prior that their system was heating my home inadequately. I enclosed proof of that for the Better Business Bureau.
  4. Achieve Renewable Energy claimed that in early December 2018 it “recommended improvements to the building envelope, at ARE’s sole time and expense” and that I rejected that offer by ARE. I provided proof to the Better Business Bureau showing that claim was false.
  5. Achieve Renewable Energy claimed that by my filing complaints with relevant entities such as the Better Business Bureau and warning ARE that I might inform others of my experience with ARE that I was not acting in good faith and was committing “extortion.” Obviously, for a business to claim that a customer telling others of his experience in an effort to obtain just compensation constitutes extortion is absurd. Customers routinely leave reviews of businesses and it is normal and appropriate for aggrieved customers to file complaints. That is supposedly why the Better Business Bureau complaint system exists.
  6. ARE also asserted in its response that the MA Attorney General’s office “offered to assist in resolution” and that I indicated that I “did not wish to resolve the issue.” That was false and I provided the Better Business Bureau proof of that.

That’s only a small sample of the discrepancies in Achieve Renewable Energy LLC’s response to my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. You can read my entire eight page response here:
